Staying at Kensington Place in Cape Town

When we travel to a new destination, we love splitting up our time in multiple locations both in and out of the city center. The change of scenery is refreshing and you are able to travel like a city tourist and enjoy the local countryside. We get such enjoyment out of checking into a new hotel and exploring all of its surrounding restaurants, major city sites and activities..especially in South Africa!

Cape Town is composed of many different suburbs that offer scenic views of the Southern tip of Africa. Through our partnership with The Hotel Specialist, we were able to stay at one of the top hotels in the city, and it was incredible.

Located right at the base of Table Mountain, Kensington Place has an incredible view of the Cape Fold Mountain range and is just a short drive to some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world.

With views of Table Mountain and overlooking the city, Kensington Place has a dream location with timeless glamour and charm. An esteemed boutique hotel with grand contemporary interior design, Kensington Place makes you feel as though you've stepped back in time as soon as you walk through the door.

Once checking in, we were led to our incredible room and there on the table was a hand written welcome card addressed to us along with a complimentary bottle of Champagne! On the card was also a confirmation of a dinner reservation they had made in our name at one of the hottest restaurants in the city.

Overwhelmed with jubilation, we cheered our glasses of champagne on our balcony that offered stunning panoramic views of the mountain and the city harbor. It was wonderful just sitting on the terrace and watching clouds roll over the mountain.

There are eight spacious rooms, including our magnificently designed suite. The concierge team gave us a special welcome and made our experience in Cape Town especially unique. Kensington Place has a range of Superior and Standard Double/Single Rooms that come in a diverse array of styles with views of Table Mountain and the harbor.

The rooms feature all that you would expect from a luxury boutique hotel like lush bathrobes, quality shower products and a stocked mini fridge…but Kensington Place goes above and beyond.

Open the closet and you will find a rolled yoga mat, lounge slippers and even a beach bag with beach towels, sun screen, and magazines. On our bedside table were complimentary chocolates and nougat from the area that complimented the bottle of champagne perfectly.

Each morning, we were served a gourmet breakfast, which as epicureans, was a highlight for us. Their seasonal menu is always readily available should you wake up late and desire breakfast past noon.

Their beautiful outside terrace is all about fine dining and is the place to go for fresh pastries and eggs cooked to perfection. The hotel is also located in a restaurant hotspot on the weekends and can accommodate any reservation you wish to make in advance.

When you are ready to enjoy the warm outdoors for a bit, enjoy the intimate pool and lush gardens that surround the property. Comfortable pool chairs sit at the base of the pool and if you fancy some shade or a refreshing cocktail you can enjoy both in the chic veranda that stands above the pool.

This iconic hotel is really as amazing as it looks. Every detail of the hotel, from the pool to the library percolates nostalgia and charm and is a MUST stay when visiting Cape Town. Kensington Place will defy your expectations at every turn. Vibrant, friendly, and naturally stunning, Cape Town’s top hotel has transformed itself.
